open radio

Radio that
simply plays.

Put it on a shelf, switch it on and listen. No account, no ads, no app to download. An open system you flash yourself — one device today, more on the way.

Fifty seconds of what you will see and touch: the first switch-on, adding a speaker, changing stations with a swipe, volume, the three home screens and the sleep noise. Every screen was drawn by the same code that draws on the cube — these are not mock-ups.

What it runs on

One system, several devices. Each one says plainly which stage it is at.

Core2

M5Stack Core2 · about 50 €

A cube the size of a matchbox with a screen, a speaker and a battery. Put it on a kitchen shelf, pick one of 222 stations and it plays. You can add a Bluetooth speaker or air sensors — you do not have to.

Being built

Tab5

M5Stack Tab5 · ESP32-P4

The same system on a much larger touch screen. We are working on it — there is no file to flash yet, and we are not giving a date because we do not have one.

An idea

Electronic paper

no hardware yet

A screen that does not glow and holds its image without power — for a bedroom. An idea for now: no prototype, no decision on the hardware.

Four things that will not change

No account, ever

Not at install time, not later.

It never updates itself

No overnight surprises. You flash a new version yourself, when you want to.

It does not know what you listen to

There is nobody to tell — it sends nothing outward.

You can rebuild it

All the code is open under GPL-3.0. The sources sit next to the download.
